Abhay Pandey

Abhay is a Managing Director with Sequoia Capital India. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital, Abhay was head of Real Estate and Infrastructure investment banking at DSP Merrill Lynch where he led capital raising for the largest Indian companies in these sectors including the largest Indian initial public offering for DLF Ltd. Prior to that, Abhay worked at McKinsey & Co, in Mumbai and Johannesburg. At McKinsey, Abhay worked with a number of leading Indian corporations in the Media and Entertainment and Manufacturing sectors. Abhay received an MBA from IIM Calcutta and a B. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay.

Amit Mookim

Amit is a Partner with KPMG’s strategy, M&A and Private Equity advisory practice. He leads the Healthcare vertical for KPMG in India.

During his career he has worked with organizations like Arthur Andersen and Infosys before joining KPMG across India and the USA. Amit has led more than 100 engagements during his career with Indian and multinational corporations, funding organizations like the World Bank and DFID, Governments, Private Equity and Venture funds and startups.

He has worked across industry sectors including Healthcare, Education, Financial Services, Real Estate, Utilities, Transportation, Food and Beverages, IT/ITES, Textiles, Engineering, FMCG and Pharmaceuticals.

Dr Amit Varma

Dr Amit Varma currently operates as President Health Care, Religare Enterprises and Director, Critical Care Medicine, Fortis Escorts group of Hospitals, India. Having completed his MBBS and MD from University of Delhi, Dr Varma further completed his residency from the State University of New York. Thereafter he went on to pursue fellowships in critical care at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and sub specialized in cardiac critical care at the Cleveland Clinic. Alongside this, he also attended courses for an Executive MBA at the University of Chicago.

After almost a decade in USA, Dr Varma began his professional journey in India at the Manipal Heart Foundation in Bangalore. He subsequently moved on to the Narayan Hrudayalaya Hospital as the consultant- in-charge of Critical Care. Early in 2003, Dr Varma joined Fortis Healthcare, where he has and continues to perform multiple administrative and clinical roles. He currently runs the integrated critical care services for Fortis Healthcare ICU network, which today comprises of a strong three-Hundred beds and helps in ormulation of Medical Strategy.

At Religare from 2009, Dr Varma is actively engaged in all healthcare initiatives of the company, playing an advisory and steering role, overlooking and further initiating all healthcare related businesses, providing medical expertise, insight and credibility in all healthcare related verticals such as Health Insurance venture, Healthcare IT, Super Religare Labs and Religare Wellness. Ben Mathias

Ben joined NEA in 2006 to focus on investments in the rapidly growing Indian markets. In January 2007, he launched New Enterprise Associates (India) Pvt. Ltd. and opened its Bangalore office. He is currently on the board of ValueFirst, Nova Medical Centers, NephroLife, InTarvo and Novatium and works closely with Intellisys, Deeya Energy and NEA's other India related investments.

Prior to joining NEA, Ben held senior positions at E2open (NASDAQ: EOPN) and  i2 Technologies (acquired by JDA Software). Previously, Ben spent a few years at PwC Consulting (acquired by IBM) as a part of the retail consulting practice.

Monika Sood

Monika is a founding partner at Arete Advisors and leader of the healthcare practice. She has c.16 years of consulting experience including over 13 years in healthcare advisory. During this time Monika has worked with more than 100 leading firms, private equity funds and government departments. She has supported them in improving access to healthcare services, formulating strategies for growth, improving operational performance, making investment decisions and building their people’s capabilities. She has provided advisory services across over 50 markets in the country and other South East Asian and Middle Eastern countries. Dr. N. Krishna reddy

Dr.N.Krishna Reddy, has graduated from Osmania Medical College in 1984 with honors. He completed his MD in Internal Medicine from the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh in 1987. He did his fellowship in Cardiology leading to DM from GB Pant Hospital, Delhi University, New Delhi.

He worked at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, and Mediciti Hospitals, Hyderabad, prior to establishing Care Hospitals. He has pioneered advanced imaging techniques and electrophysiology procedures in the state of Andhra Pradesh. His contribution to landmark original research includes studies on Percutaneous Valvotomy for Rheumatic Mitral Stenosis, Prosthetic Valve Thrombosis, Role of Sildenafil in Primary Pulmonary Hypertension etc.

He conducted epidemiological studies on cardiovascular risk factors. He has been acting as Principal Investigator and National Lead Investigator for various multinational drug and device trials. He established a dedicated department of Clinical Research at Care Hospitals. He was the key member of the team that developed and tested India’s first indigenous coronary stent, popularly known as Kalam-Raju Stent.

He co-founded the Care Hospitals in 1997, which has grown rapidly from 100-bed strength, single hospital, single specialty entity to more than 1500-bed strength, 12-hospitals, 6-states, and multispecialty within a short span of 10 years. He is currently Managing Director, Andhra Cardiology Associates (ACA), which has the largest team of 50 Cardiologists managing Cardiology services in various Care Hospitals; Director & CEO at Care Hospitals since 2006; Member, Board of Directors, Care Foundation. He co-founded Relisys Medical Devices and is currently its Chairman. Relisys Medical Devices has created a cost-effective  end-to-end technology platform for both Stents and Polymer-based Catheters.

Niten Malhan

Niten Malhan is a Managing Director with Warburg Pincus India Private Limited. He has been with Warburg Pincus since 2001 and focuses on the firm's investment activities in India. He has been involved with a number of the firm's investments in India across various sectors including healthcare, infrastructure, real estate, and industrials. Previously, he was a director of business development at Stratum8 Corporation, a Silicon Valley start-up. An IIM-Ahmedabad alumini, Dr. Om Manchanda started his career with Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL) as a management trainee in the year 1990. His next stint was with Monsanto, a biotech company, where he was part of a team that successfully launched their first ever biotech product Bt-Cotton as the head of Sales and Marketing. Siddharth Dhondiyal, a Director in the IVFA investment team joined IVFA in 2006 and is involved with investments in healthcare, consumer and technology sectors.   Based in Bengaluru, he contributed to improving IVFA’s internal processes and developing the “The IVFA Way” - the Firm's approach to building admired businesses.

Over the last 10 years Siddharth has focused on tracking the evolution and growth of the Indian healthcare sector and has been actively involved in IVFA’s investments in the healthcare sector including Aster DM Healthcare, Manipal Hospitals, Trivitron Healthcare and Cloudnine Hospitals.

Shravan Talwar

Shravan Talwar, 42 years, is a co-promoter of the Moolchand Group and a trustee of The Moolchand Trust.  He has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Moolchand Healthcare since 2004 and has played a pivotal role in its transformation.

Shravan is viewed to be a leader in the healthcare services space in India.  He has developed deep expertise in hospital design and development, rebranding and marketing new service development, physician change management and procurement.

He is also an active member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), Delhi Chapter.

Prior to assuming his current role in 2004, Shravan was associated with McKinsey and Company in Europe, US and India for 6+ years as a part of its healthcare practice and focused on operations excellence, strategy and corporate finance engagements.

Shravan earned his MBA with distinction from Kellogg Business School of Northwestern University and graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Computational and Applied Math and Economics from Rice University.  At Rice he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

Shrenik M Khasgiwala

Shrenik is a commerce graduate from Sydenham College, Mumbai and a Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Thereafter, Shrenik completed his post-graduation in business management from IIM Bangalore. He is also a Certified Investment Manager from the Securities and Investment Institute, UK.

He joined us from Enam Securities where he was Executive Director – Investment Banking. He also set up the first international office for Enam in the UK.

Shrenik has over 16 years of experience in the areas of financial audit, management consulting, as well as Investment banking and has worked for companies like Lodha & Co., Accenture and A.T. Kearney prior to joining Enam. He has worked on several advisory mandates and has advised several clients (including the Tata Group) in Investment Banking. 

Shriram Vijayakumar

Shriram's inspiration to start NephroLife in India began with a revelation that - "Every year, 300,000 people need some form of renal replacement therapy in India but less than 10% of them have access to kidney care, and most of them die in the first year."

Dr. Vikram Chhatwal

Dr. Vikram Chhatwal graduated with an undergraduate medical degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. He trained at Department of Surgery at the National University of Singapore and obtained a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Medicine. He studied international business at a premier French engineering school, Ecole Nationale des ponts et Chaussees, Paris. He went on to study at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Boston. He is currently the Chairman of the Board at MediAssist India.

Prior to this he was the CEO of Reliance Health, a Reliance ADA Group Company. ‘Reliance Health’ had interests across hospitals, health insurance administration (TPA), disease management and health care IT.  He was the project leader and built the largest privately-funded hospital, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

He was part of the founding team, as Chief Executive, of the largest Indian healthcare BPO and IT companies, Apollo Health Street Limited, and had a concurrent position as the CIO for the Apollo Hospitals Group.

Viren Shetty

Viren Shetty is the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Planning at Narayana Hrudayalaya Group of Hospitals and also sits on the Board of Directors. He started his career in the hospital engineering division and executed 8 projects as part of NH’s expansion strategy. He is currently working on streamlining the operating procedures for various group hospitals in order to maintain Narayana Hrudayalaya’s goal of delivering the highest quality care at the most affordable price.

Viren has a Bachelor’s in Engineering from the RV College of Engineering and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
