Sumant Batra, Insolvency Lawyer, President, Insolvency Law Academy
Sumant Batra is an insolvency lawyer of global eminence. A Distinguished Fellow of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, and Visiting Professor of National Law University, Delhi, Batra is ranked amongst the top 30 global restructuring lawyers. He also holds the distinction of being the only International Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy from India.
As senior consultant to the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank Group, OECD, and Asian Development Bank, he has been deeply involved in insolvency reforms, globally. He has also been deeply engaged in development of the insolvency policy and industry in India, and is considered as one of the key architects of Indian insolvency industry.
He is Past President of INSOL International and holds the distinction of being the youngest and the only Asian ever to have been elected as President of the 43 years old global organisation representing the insolvency industry.
Ranked as No. 1 insolvency lawyer of the country for many consecutive years, he has advised in nearly all big insolvency cases.
He is the Founder of Insolvency Law Academy, the country’s first institute of excellence in insolvency set up to complement the efforts of the policy makers and market institutions in developing a robust insolvency framework and industry in India and beyond.
Batra’s book, Corporate Insolvency Principles and Practice is considered amongst the most authoritative scholarly work on insolvency. His most recent book, The Jaypee Infra Insolvency Saga, tells the story of India’s most complex insolvency case.

For most of his 15 yrs of professional career, he has worked in Private Equity & Venture Capital space with ICICI Venture focussing in investments in Technology, Media and Retail businesses. Sumant also headed the online business of STAR TV and Business Strategy at Microsoft before moving to entrepreneurship.
Sumant Sinha, Chairman, SaVant Advisers
Sumant Sinha is the Founder and Chairman of SaVant Advisers, a high end financial advisory and consulting firm.
Sumant was the COO at Suzlon Energy Ltd, the world's third largest renewable energy company where he oversaw the complete refinancing of debt as well as various functional areas for the company.
Prior to Suzlon, Sumant has served as group CFO for the Aditya Birla group as well as CEO of Aditya Birla Retail. He was responsible for some of the largest acquisitions by the group including Novelis and Idea Cellular.
Sumant has a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management and a Masters degree from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
Sumat Chopra, Co-founder & CEO, Ekstop.com
Previously worked as a Senior Associate at Goldman Sachs, New York with ten years of experiences across technology, retail, & other sectors in trading, investment banking and risk and also in private equity investing. He founded an online grocery shopping platform for college campuses and also worked for Microsoft. Born and raised in Mumbai, he moved to the U.S. to study computer science and business at Carnegie Mellon University and Harvard University. He has an MBA from INSEAD with an exchange at Wharton.

Sumeet Mehta, CEO, Zee Learn Ltd
Sumeet Mehta, Chief Executive Officer, Zee Learn Ltd. has been associated with Zee’s Education business for over three years. He joined the group as Chief Operating Officer of Zee Interactive Learning Systems (ZILS) in 2007 and then took over as Chief Executive Officer in January 2008 prior to ETC Networks Ltd.’s merger with ZILS. Since then, he has been at the helm of the Education business of ETC Networks Ltd. till its merger with ZEEL in January 2010. Prior to joining Zee’s education business, Mr. Mehta was with Procter & Gamble Ltd. for over eight years in various brand management roles across Asia Pacific based in Mumbai and Singapore.
Under his leadership, the turnover of Zee’s education business has grown from Rs. 250mn in 2008-09 to projected Rs. 400mn in FY 2010-11. During this period, Zee Learn’s education network has grown to over 30 Mount Litera Schools, over 700 Kidzee Preschools and more than 25 Zee Institute of Creative Art (ZICA). He has led the company to develop best-in-class pedagogies in schools and preschools, namely Litera Octave and Illume respectively. Under his guidance, Zee Learn has recently forayed into School Solutions business and Public Private Partnerships with Government in addition to its existing franchise and school partnership businesses.

Sumer Juneja, Director, Norwest Venture Partners | @NorwestVP
Sumer serves as an advisor on growth equity investments in Indian companies across a wide range of sectors, including telecom, technology, financial services, infrastructure and manufacturing.
Before joining NVP India in 2009, Sumer was a founding member of the Goldman Sachs’ Asian Special Situations Group in India, a balance sheet investing group with over $4 billion under management. In this role, Sumer originated and evaluated investment opportunities in a broad range of industries, conducted due diligence and had board level involvement with such companies as Bharti Infratel, IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd., IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd. (ITNL), Cremica and OnMobile.
Prior to this role, Sumer was an analyst for the Industrial and Natural Resources Team in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs. In this position, Sumer actively drove all aspects of the M&A process including financial analysis, due diligence and public and private buy-side and sell-side transactions. Transaction experience included acquisition of Paladin Resources by Talisman Energy, acquisition of Domnick Hunter by Parker Hannifin and advising Thames Water, a UK water utility, on the divestiture of its international assets valued at over $2 billion
