Amit Gupta, Partner, NewQuest, Hong Kong

Amit is a founding Partner of NewQuest and oversees the firm’s India and Southeast Asia business as well as investments in the power and financial services sectors. Amit has nearly 20 years of industry experience.

Prior to co-founding NewQuest, he was a Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s (BAML) Asia Private Equity group where he led the India business and oversaw investments the energy and financial services sectors across the Asia Pacific. Amit has also served in other roles in BAML, including Corporate Principal Investments based in Hong Kong and Investment Banking based in Mumbai.

Prior to working at BAML, Amit was a software engineer based in Mumbai and the United States. Amit has an MBA from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, where he was placed on the Director’s Merit List for his performance, and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from REC Kurukshetra, where he received the University gold medal. Amit is fluent in English and Hindi.

Amit Hirawat, Director, India Value Fund

Amit joined IVFA in 2008 and is based in Mumbai.

Amit has been involved in evaluating and executing IVFA’s investments in the healthcare services, manufacturing and infrastructure related businesses. Amit has also contributed towards development of the firm’s framework for evaluating exit opportunities for portfolio companies.

Amit has worked for six years with DSP Merrill Lynch in Mumbai in their M&A and private equity group and for three years with Deutsche Bank in Singapore as part of investment banking team. He was involved in raising capital and M&A in telecom, healthcare, financial services, IT, internet, infrastructure, manufacturing in and outside India.

Amit holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Amit Jain, Managing Director - Private Equity, Blackstone Advisors India Private Ltd

Amit Jain is a Managing Director in the Private Equity Group and is based in Mumbai. Before joining Blackstone in 2011, Mr. Jain worked at McKinsey & Company focusing on infrastructure and financial projects in India. Prior to that, Mr. Jain worked at Hindustan Unilever limited ("HUL") where he worked primarily in the manufacturing and supply chain area, setting up and operating manufacturing plants in HUL. Mr. Jain received a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur where he received the "Institute Silver Medal" and a P.G.P. (equivalent to an M.B.A.) from the Indian School of Business ("ISB"), Hyderabad where he was awarded the "ISB Scholar of Excellence."

Amit Jain, Partner, Price Waterhouse & Co LLP

Amit is a Partner at Price Waterhouse & Co LLP with experience of over 15 years. He leads the Fintech regulatory practice with industry focus on digital payments, digital lending, neobanks, cross-border remittances, and other fintech segments.  He has been extensively assisting his clients in obtaining necessary regulatory licenses, setting-up of regulatory compliance and governance framework, policy advocacy, due diligence and other consulting areas. Amit also leads the knowledge partnership engagement with industry groups and members on research and representation to policy makers on emerging fintech topics.

An IIT Delhi 1999 alumni, Amit Jain co-founded the Jaipur based IT outsourcing firm Girnar Software Pvt. Ltd. in 2007 along with his brother Anurag Jain, also an ex-IIT Delhi student. Following his visit to the auto expo of 2008, the idea of Cardekho.com kicked off as the flagship portal of GirnarSoft.

Amit started his career with Trilogy, an Austin based company and due to his knowledge and expertise in the field of technology development, he moved up the ranks quickly to take on the role of Product Manager with the company. After spending 8 years with the company, his passion for innovation steered him towards starting his own venture, GirnarSoft. His decision of acquiring leading auto portals Gaadi.com and Zigwheels.com brings the group company GirnarSoft another step closer to the goal of being a multi-billion dollar company before 2021. Amit’s zeal towards fostering entrepreneurship and creating products that create a superior consumer experience has led him to be an angel investor to various internet startups. He is also a regular speaker at Tie Events.

Amit Jaju is a Senior Managing Director based in Mumbai. Amit has over 17 years of experience in technology consulting with a focus around client issues such as fraud, data theft, intellectual property, financial crime. Amit is the only digital forensics expert from India in the Who’s Who of Legal list of experts. Amit covers a wide range of areas covering digital forensics, ediscovery, cyber, analytics, software license compliance, and automation.

Amit Kansal, Head, Alternate Investments - Fixed Income, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd.

Mr. Amit Kansal has more than 22 years of experience across Aditya Birla Capital, ICICI Bank, E&Y among others and has been with Aditya Birla Capital for ~ 14 years.

He conceptualized, operationalized and headed the Business function for Special Situations/Stressed Asset Platform including JV with Värde Partners (US based Credit Fund) for Aditya Birla Capital. He was involved in some of the most marquee deals like largest  One Time Cash Settlement, largest debt cash buyout apart from various holding company and acquisition finance transactions.

Earlier, he led the Project & Structured Finance vertical for North & East for Aditya Birla Finance. His role spanned project linked lending, structured debt and corporate finance solutions to large and mid-market corporate houses. He has covered Infrastructure, Core, Manufacturing, Hospitality, Real Estate among others.

With extensive deal exposure across Banks, NBFCs & Special Situation investing (including global best practices), Amit has worked across the credit spectrum with investment.

He is a commerce graduate from Shri Ram College of Commerce and a Rank Holder Chartered Account.

Amit Kansal, Chief Investment Officer, Aditya Birla Stressed Asset AMC Pvt Ltd.

Mr. Amit Kansal is the Chief Investment Officer of Aditya Birla Stressed Asset AMC Pvt Ltd which runs a Category II AIF focusing on special situations and distress opportunities. At Aditya Birla, he has been involved in some of the most marquee transactions including the largest OTS of its kind for a 1350 MW Thermal Power plant. With a total experience of more than 18 years, he has now been with the Aditya Birla Group for more than a decade and spearheaded the group’s entry into this business.

Prior to this role, he as one of the founding members of team, led the Project & Structured Finance vertical for North & East for Aditya Birla Finance and set up an immensely successful franchise in that business. His role spanned project linked lending, structured debt and corporate finance solutions to large and mid-market corporate houses. He has covered infrastructure, core, hospitality and real estate sectors extensively apart from manufacturing and select sunrise sectors. Previously, he has worked at Srei Infrastructure, ICICI Bank and Ernst & Young.

Amit has more than 15 years’ experience in sales and marketing across Education, Training & Entertainment industries covering Indian and International markets. His stints at NIIT, Palador Pictures, Centum Learning, Across World Education and Encyclopaedia Britannica have been focussed on Sales, market entry and growth strategies coupled with a focus on business development.

In his last assignment, Amit was Director - Digital Sales at Encyclopaedia Britannica South Asia. He holds PGDM from T.A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal.
