Varun Gupta, Managing Director, Duff & Phelps
Varun is the country managing director for India. He was responsible for setting up the India office. In addition to valuation services performed for clients, he has responsibility for the overall management of India operations. In addition to his responsibilities in India, Varun oversees the Asia operations (excluding China) of the firm.
He has over 20 years of experience in valuation and financial advisory services. Prior to joining American Appraisal, Varun has worked with Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). At Deloitte, Varun led a team of 70 professionals in providing valuation services to US based clients in relation to valuation of investments, purchase price allocation and impairment testing under US GAAP and IFRS. Also a key member of a team set up by Deloitte to develop and implement standard valuation methodologies across the firm. At PwC, Varun focused on valuation and project finance. Spent about one year in the UK, where he helped an Italian power company raise approximately EUR 700 million of non-recourse debt.
He is a member of the firm’s global strategic advisory board and global technical standards committee. Has been a speaker at several seminars/ workshops, including the Valuation workshops organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) where he talked about valuation of intangible assets. Has also spoken at valuation workshops at IIM Kozhikode, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon and ICFAI Hyderabad. Was a key speaker on valuation of trademarks at a recent INTA Roundtable. Additionally, he spoke at an ICAI sponsored seminar on valuation of early stage companies and at an ASSOCHAM summit on IFRS.
Varun Gupta, Partner, Head of Integration and Separation Advisory, KPMG India Private Limited
Varun has significant transaction experience, both as a manager in industry and as an advisor. Prior to joining KMPG, Varun worked with Deloitte in the UK as a post merger integration and carve-out specialist. Prior to Deloitte, Varun spent 8 years with GE in various transaction execution and operational roles, ranging from IT, operations to customer services. Varun is also a qualified Lean Six Sigma black belt trainer.
Varun has worked on over 60 transactions globally. He specializes in providing clients support during a transaction with advice on commercial and operational matters, integration and separation planning, programme management and benefits identification and delivery.

Vasudev Dibbur, Corporate Partner - PE/VC & M&A , L&L Partners Law Offices
Vasudev is a corporate partner in the M&A and PE / VC practice at L&L Partners Law Offices (formerly Luthra & Luthra Law Offices). Vasudev has advised a number of fund houses on their investments in India. Vasudev also routinely advises on corporate restructuring, joint ventures, commercial contracts, general corporate matters and employment related matters.
Vasudev’s experience spreads across sectors, including pharma, retail, real estate, media, telecommunications, IT/ITES, micro finance, liquor, heavy engineering, mining & minerals and defence. He has in-depth knowledge and understanding of various aspects relating to the legal and regulatory jurisprudence and practice in these areas. Venkat Iyer has 30+ years of experience working in US and India in various businesses like Renewable Sources of energy (Solar & Wind), Office Equipments(Canon USA & Xerox), Pharma manufacturing (Pfizer & Wockhardt), Automotive (TVS Motor), IT services (IBM@Tata Steel) and Broadcast Media(Star TV). His recent functional experience has been in the area of IT Management but has also worked in Sales & Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business process design and re-engineering, Logistics and distribution. His key interests are in the area of business process improvement through the use of technology.

Venkat Ketharaju is a Director with Valuations and Business Modelling practice of Ernst & Young LLP based in Bangalore, India. He has over 20 years of work experience in various industry sectors including Automobiles, Auto components, Carbon Black, Oil & Gas, Pharma, etc. His experience includes business valuation, business analysis & planning, building & validating detailed economic models, funds planning for high risk projects, project management, negotiating Production Sharing Contracts & Joint Venture Agreements and corporate finance.
Venkat has done his Industrial Engineering and Masters in Business Administration from University of Poona and is also Associate member of Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
Vidya Rajarao, Partner, Grant Thornton India LLP
Vidya is a Partner and leads Grant Thornton India Forensics practice. She brings over 15 years of investigations and forensic accounting experience. She has substantial investigative and forensic consulting experience in USA and India. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Vidya was associated as a Partner at a Big Four firm.
She is the sole India nominee in the International Who's Who of Arbitration Expert Witnesses 2014. She has represented her clients in various forums including the American Arbitration Association (AAA), ICC Court of Arbitration, the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and several ad-hoc arbitrations in the United States and India.
Vidya specializes in large, multinational, complex litigation and investigation assignments, including internal investigations, forensic accounting investigations as well as arbitrations and resolution of post-acquisition purchase price disputes.
She has significant experience in leading numerous forensic accounting assignments, anti-corruption and fraud investigations that require the reconstruction of complex financial records, as well as regulatory proceeding matters involving SEC investigations and NASD self-assessments.
Vijay Iyer, Partner, Deloitte Touche & Tohmatsu India Pvt Ltd
Vijaykumar Iyer (Vijay) has been with Deloitte in India for over 25 years and is a currently a partner in their M&A Transaction Services and financial due diligence services. Vijay has over 15 years as a full-time M&A specialist in the field of financial due diligence and has worked on over 370 domestic and cross border transactions across a spectrum of sectors including manufacturing, telecom, media, pharma, real estate, banking and financial services.
Vijay has also worked in the UK and Singapore offices of Deloitte and has valuable experience in the fields of financial analysis and transaction support.
He is a regular facilitator of training programs for the VC Circle apart from facilitating conducted training programmes conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, the Administrative Staff College, Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society and Flame Management Institute.
Vijay is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and an associate member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
Vijay Rajagopal, Investment Manager, Peepul Capital
Vijay has more than 9 years of experience across Private Equity , Management Consulting and Investment Banking. He has been a private equity investor the last 5 years, mostly with Peepul Capital where he is working currently and prior to that, with Aavishkaar. He has considerable experience in investing and managing firms across Consumer products, Consumer services and Manufacturing. He is currently a Director on the Boards of two firms - Consul Consolidated and Unibic Foods and is an Observer on the Board of Sresta Natural Bio-products. Previously, he has been an Observer on the Boards of companies like Vortex Engineering and Servals Automation.
Before Aavishkaar, Vijay was with ICICI Bank’s Global Investment Banking Group in Singapore. He began his career in Strategy and Operations Consulting with the Tata Strategic Management Group (TSMG) in Mumbai, where he spent a couple of years. At TSMG, he received an award from Mr. Ratan Tata for outstanding contribution.
Vijay received an Engineering degree from BITS, Pilani( Batch Topper) and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. He has also completed all three CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst –US) levels. He was featured in ‘The Smart CEO’ magazine. He has been a speaker in several forums including Private Equity Conclave 2011 , BITS Pilani Entrenepreneurship Meet 2010 and VIT, Vellore Venture Capital Workshop 2009. He is an active member of the IIM-A Alumni association and TiE, Chennai Chapter.
