Bipin Preet Singh, Founder & CEO, MobiKwik

Bipin is the founder and CEO of the Indian Mobile Wallet Major, MobiKwik. He founded MobiKwik with the vision to transform the digital payments landscape in the country, which was close to nil when the company started operations in 2009. Under his vision, MobiKwik has grown from a recharge & bill payment platform to the largest independent mobile payments network in India, enabling 50 million users and 1.4 million business to go cashless. The company was also one of the largest contributors in facilitating digital payments during the recently executed remonetisation in the country.

In near future, MobiKwik will become the port of call for all financial services. The company’s vision is to become India’s most simple-to- use, large scale, financial distribution platform in the next 2-3 years through mobile internet technology by enabling Indians to make & collect payments, access credit, investments, insurance etc., seamlessly, instantly and at the click of a button. Thereby enabling low cost financial inclusion in India.

Bipin has worn several hats at MobiKwik, from engineering to leading the business development, marketing, and advertising teams. Bipin’s immediate focus is to enable 5 million business owners and 150 mn users in India with digital payments in 2017.

Prior to his entrepreneurial journey, Bipin spent 7 years as a Platform Architect at companies such as Intel, Nvidia, and Freescale.

Bipin is an engineering graduate from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. At the age of 29, when faced with a choice to spend his savings on an expensive B-school degree from a top university in the US or use the money to startup, Bipin chose the latter. It was a decision that saw him making a difficult shift from hardware to software, learn programming from scratch and bootstrap his way to success.  Given his success as a seasoned entrepreneur Fortune featured him under the prestigious "40 under 40" list for 2016.


Bishal Lachhiramka, CEO and Co-­founder, Ameyo | @AmeyoCIM

Mr.Bishal Lachhiramka is the CEO and co¬founder of Ameyo. He has been a driving force in achieving consistent business growth, and his business intelligence has evolved the company from a small proprietary business to a global Contact Center Software and Enterprise Communications Solutions provider. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science technology from IIT and has over 13 years of experience in VOIP, Telecom network and Enterprise Software domain.

Biswabrata Chakravorty, Head - Information Technology, IndusInd Bank

Biswa has more than two decades in technology strategy, execution and transformation roles across leading Banks and Insurance organizations such as IndusInd Bank, Barclays Bank, Bank Of America, ICICI Prudential, Cigna TTK and Reliance Life Insurance.

In his current role he is responsible for roadmap, planning and delivery of strategic capabilities for IndusInd Bank across the technology stack back to front, aligning with the firms broader strategy.

He is also accountable for governance and for security engineering to protect data centre, end points, applications and core information assets.

Driving digital transformation across customer journeys, influencing the modernisation of the application stack using cloud and containerisation and create data warehouse and analytics capability are some of his strategic priorities.

In his earlier assignments in Banking for Barclays and Bank of America he has been responsible for developing a go to market strategy for Europe markets for Barclays, a strategic benchmarking of technology competences across key dimensions for EMEA countries, driving an in house technology captive setup for BofA in India, setting up a strategy and governance unit for Barclays technology in India among others.


Bobby Pauly, Partner, Tata Capital

Mr. Bobby Pauly started his career in 1998 and has experience in consulting and private equity sectors. He has been with Tata Capital since October 2007, being one of the founding members of the private equity team at Tata Capital and has been instrumental in the design and development of the firm's private equity franchise. Mr. Pauly was assigned to the Tata Opportunities Fund in early 2010 as the first member of the Fund’s advisory team.
 
Prior to Tata Capital, Mr. Pauly spent ~7 years as a strategy consultant at Tata Strategic Management Group. In 2005-06, he helped establish the firm’s Private Equity franchise advising on over USD 450 million of private equity and M&A transactions. He started his career with the TVS Group.

 

Mr. Pauly secured his MBA degree from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, and graduated from the Mechanical Engineering program of College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University. In 2000, the Confederation of Indian Industry honoured Mr. Pauly as a Young Business Leader of Tomorrow.


Brahmanand Hegde, MD & CEO, Vistaar Financial Services Pvt. Ltd

Brahmanand is one of the Founders and the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Vistaar Financial Services Pvt. Ltd. A Bangalore based NBFC focused on Small Business Lending.

Brahmanand is a 30 years veteran of rural banking and agricultural lending in India. He was director of Fullerton India’s rural banking since 2007. Prior to that, Brahmanand was part of ICICI group. During initial period he was part of project finance team responsible for implementing ACE programme funded by USAID, focused on post-harvest value addition for horticulture crops. Later, as Joint General Manager, Brahmanand ran ICICI’s rural banking group including Microfinance, Agri SME, Commodity Financing etc.

Brahmanand is a Post-Graduate with M.Sc from University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore and qualified CAIIB from Indian Institute of Bankers, Mumbai.


Brajesh Mishra, Co-founder, Varthana

Brajesh is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Varthana. He firmly believes that the bottom up approach is the only way to address the issues of education in the country and hence it is critical to empower the school owners with the best resources available – access to credit, access to solution providers, access to a global network and access to ideas. His dream is to have Varthana play a pivotal role in the transformation of affordable education in the country.

Brajesh has around two decades of experience in retail banking and financial services, having worked with one of the largest banks in the country – ICICI Bank. Before co-founding Varthana, he was a member of the founding team at another school finance company, ISFC. Outside of work, Brajesh is into long distance running, reading, music and traveling.


Brij Bhushan, VP, Nexus India Capital Advisors Pvt Ltd

Brij has several years of operating and consulting experience. Prior to joining Nexus, Brij built and led the category function at Urbantouch.com - an ecommerce site for beauty and fashion products. He joined urbantouch at a very early stage and played a key role in the growth of the company. He also oversaw other functions and led multiple projects including just in time procurement, new products, leadership hiring and investor relations.

Prior to Urbantouch, Brij was a Case Team Leader at Bain & Company in San Francisco and New Delhi. While at Bain, Brij advised corporates on growth strategy, new product development, go-to-market and performance improvement with a focus on Consumer Goods, Technology, Industrials and Education sectors. He also assisted private equity clients with business diligence in a wide range of industries including IT, airlines and business services.

Previously, Brij worked in telecom product development and testing at Infosys and Hughes Software where his focus was on 2.5/3G networks. Brij has an MBA from IIM Bangalore and B.Tech in Computer Science from MDU, Haryana.


Brooks Preston, Vice President - Investment Funds, Overseas Private Investment Corporation

Vice President for Investment Funds, Brooks Preston overseas a department which has committed more than $4.4 billion to dozens of emerging market private equity funds since 1987. The Funds team currently manages approximately 50 financial commitments to private equity funds in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Emerging Europe and has the intention to grow the existing portfolio.

Before coming to OPIC, Brooks was the co-managing partner of the Virgin Green Fund Emerging Markets and a member of its Investment Committee. Prior to founding VGF EM, Brooks was the Principal at Wolfensohn & Company, an emerging market private equity firm led by former World Bank President James D. Wolfensohn where Brooks focused on low carbon energy investments in global emerging markets. From 2003 to 2008, Brooks had a number of senior management roles at BP plc in emerging markets, including head of global business development and M&A for BP Solar, and chief of staff to a Group Vice President running 10 large downstream oil businesses with $450 million in EBIT operating across 100 countries, most of them emerging markets.

Brooks was Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary of Natural Resources and Environment and Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Forestry at USDA in the Clinton/Gore Administration. He wrote 15 laws passed by the U.S. Senate as Professional Staff Member at the Senate Committee Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, where he covered forestry. Brooks also managed energy and environment issues for Senator Patrick Leahy.

Brooks has a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.


Bruno E. Raschle, MD, Adveq Management

Bruno is responsible for defining the strategic direction of Adveq and for the firm’s business development in Asia. He is also a member of the Investment Committee.

Prior to founding Adveq in 1997 he was the founder and responsible executive of two venture capital fund of funds, MC Partners I & II, and made several direct company investments in the clean technology space. Bruno also has experience in managing and investing in start-ups, turn-arounds and expansion opportunities in other industries on different continents.

Bruno holds MSc degrees in Construction Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.
