Introduction

Techcircle Online Payments & Loyalty Conference

With the explosion in the Internet commerce and an increasing spend on established brands as a result of the fast-growing buying power of the middle class in India, the country is witnessing a wide gap in its payments infrastructure and loyalty rewards segments. However, the fast-evolving requirements in this space are now addressed through relevant innovations, thus resulting into the emergence of new business models in the payments processing and loyalty rewards sub-sectors.

As modern Indian retail amounts to around 6 per cent of the country’s total retail and is growing at 35 per cent-40 per cent a year, both online and offline retail formats cover a big proportion of the country’s consuming population who has the money to spend while sellers wish to transact with these consumers through efficient and innovative mediums.

As the Internet commerce sees an expansion in categories, verticalisation and well-capitalised start-ups ramping up and innovating to service the growing customer base, there are payment processing companies focusing on innovations to manage payments across several domains including e-commerce, ticketing, bill payments, insurance, call centres and travel across B2C & B2B ecosystems. For many of them, the focus is on COD mechanisms, which will ensure that transaction-based payment systems can be created without any trust issue. Similarly, in the Mobile segment, new platforms are processing payments securely and instantly over any distance.

In a similar fashion, loyalty rewards and payments management companies in India are leveraging the opportunities to develop loyalty programmes which will influence consumer behaviour and create lasting relationships with modern retail and product brands through building coalition or multi-partner loyalty programmes and engaging in the development and management of consumer loyalty, rewards, data intelligence and direct marketing communication programmes.

Techcircle Online Payments & Loyalty Conference, to be held on January 20, 2012, will capture these innovations and trends, and bring together the leading innovators and entrepreneurs who are building businesses that will take charge of these segment gaps in the coming years.
