Deepak Anand, Co-founder & CEO, Housr

A dynamic and successful entrepreneur- Deepak Anand is the brain behind introducing the original co-living concept in India- Housr. As cities flourish, spaces vanish. But living in cities shouldn't always mean crunched spaces and a lower standard of living. Deepak recognized this problem and realized it could be solved via a shared economy model. Urban clusters have a high number of migrant population using rented accommodations. India, as the fastest growing economy in the world, has grabbed the attention of the world and is today on the radar of global investors, multi-national corporations, tourists, economists and more.

Moreover, India has a high population of millennials well-versed with using sharing economy on a day-to-day basis, it lays a solid ground for introducing co-living via Housr in the truest sense. Housr’s vision is to truly disrupt the way millennials live by providing high quality co-living spaces which makes their lives easier, more convenient, fulfilling and memorable.

Before founding Housr, Deepak was the Founder of Smartlease and has an extensive experience in the real estate industry. In the past, he has worked in leadership roles at Real Estate Private Equity Funds, HT Media and HSBC. Deepak is an INSEAD Alumnus and a graduate from Delhi University.


Deepak Bagla, Partner, Infrastructure, 3i Private Equity India

Deepak joined 3i in March 2007, bringing two decades of work experience starting with the World Bank in Washington DC, followed by a stint with a major Indian business conglomerate, where he was involved with corporate planning and establishing green field projects.

Deepak worked with Citigroup since 1989 in various roles including structured financial solutions for State Governments, Capital Markets, Financial Institutions and public/private Corporations. From 1996 he was involved with global equity offerings by Corporations in Europe and Asia.

Deepak was a member of the Banking & Finance Committee of the Bureau of Indian Standards (ISO afiliate 2005-06). He was also a member of the committee established by the Government of India to recommend corporate governance norms for independant directors (2006).

Deepak has a Bachelors degree with honours in Economics from St Stephens College, Delhi University, and a Masters in International Trade & Finance and Diplomacy, from the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, Washington DC.

Deepak Gaur, Managing Director, SAIF Partners | @SAIFPartners

Deepak Gaur is Managing Director in SAIF Partners,one of the largest and active funds in the country across early and growth stage companies. Deepak joined SAIF in 2006 and in his prior role was a consultant with McKinsey & Company focused on Consumer products/services, IT, telecom and the automotive sector. He also worked with IBM Global services in their Telecom and Media services division. His primary area of focus is growth equity investments in technology driven businesses. Mr. Gaur was awarded the Chairman’s Gold medal in IIM Lucknow and has a B.Tech. in mechanical engineering from IIT Kanpur.

Prior to Gencoval, Deepak was Vice Chairman, Oracle Financial Services and CEO, iFlex India. His strategic, financial and operational acumen that drove the company into a true Indian multinational.
Deepak is the first Indian CFO to have been honoured the prestigious CFO Asia award.
Deepak is an active contributor to industry as:

Deepak Gupta, Co-founder, Equity Crest | @EquityCrest

Deepak is the Co-Founder and CEO of Equity Crest which is India’s trusted platform for connecting promising young companies with high quality investors in order to fulfill their capital needs. He has 19 years of experience in investments & finance across angel investing, ventures, fixed income and financial management. Deepak holds a B.Tech from IIT Bombay & MBA/MS (Finance) degrees from United States.

Before joining Equity Crest, Deepak was Investment Director at Intel Capital- where he spent 8 years driving venture deals.  At Intel, Deepak was an early investor in companies that went on to create more than $1B in value. He led investments in companies including Sasken (IPO), Future Software (Acquired by Flextronics), Omnesys (acquired by Thomson Reuters), Career Launcher, Tejas Networks and Savaari Car Rentals.

Deepak has also been playing in the seed stage eco-system for some time. Early in his career, he helped develop and roll-out a seed investment program for emerging markets for Intel Capital. More recently he has been an active angel investor with more than a dozen investments to his name.


Deepak I. Shahdadpuri, Founder & Managing Director, DSG Consumer Partners

Deepak I. Shahdadpuri is the Founder and Managing Director of DSG Consumer Partners (“DSGCP”) and has over 15 years of private equity experience. Before DSGCP, he co-founded and managed the Beacon India Private Equity Fund and GEM India. Prior to that, Deepak worked with Reuters Venture Capital, Bain & Company and Ernst & Young.

Deepak currently serves on multiple boards including that of Baker's Circle, Eazydiner, Impresario Hospitality, IndoStar Capital, India Lends, Mswipe Technologies, Saffronart, and Sula Wines. His investment experience also includes RBL Bank, India’s National Stock Exchange, OYO Rooms, Cleartrip, GOQii, Redmart, Chope, F&B Asia and Hostmaker.

Deepak has an MBA with Distinction from INSEAD where he graduated on the Dean’s list, an LLB (Hons) from King's College London and a FCA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales.

Deepak serves on the Advisory Board of INSEAD’s Global Private Equity Initiative (GPEI). GPEI aims to work hand in hand with private equity firms to create relevant, timely and thought provoking output. Deepak is the co-founder of InseadAlum Ventures, a venture fund leveraging capital from INSEAD alumni focused on investing in early stage businesses founded by INSEAD alumni.

Deepak also serves on board of Magic Bus Singapore, a non-profit organization helping develop underprivileged children through sports in India.

 


Deepak I. Shahdadpuri, Founder and Managing Director, BCP Advisors

Deepak I. Shahdadpuri is the Founder and Managing Director of BCP Advisors, advisors to the Beacon India Private Equity Fund ($320M under management including co-investment pool). Prior to that he was Managing Director at private equity fund GEM India Advisors, and worked with Reuters Venture Capital, Bain & Company and Ernst & Young.

Deepak currently serves on the board of Baker's Circle, Bhayana Builders, Impresario, New Horizon Media, Sula Wines, Saffronart, Vatika and Trak. Deepak has an MBA with distinction from INSEAD (Dean's List) and an LLB (Hons) from King's College London. Deepak has 14 years of principal investing experience.
Deepak's angel investments include Active Health, Atyourprice, Bangalore Management Academy, Exclusively.in, Fetal Genetix, Saffronart, Speakwell and Subway Southeast.


Deepak Natraj, Managing Director, Aarin Inspired Capital

Deepak manages Aarin Capital (www.aarincapital.com), which has made 15 large & mid-size, and a similar number of seed investments. Aarin’s investments include focused molecular research, implantable & external medical devices, mobile-medicine, gene testing, test-prep, software products, eCommerce and tablet based platform learning in India & overseas.

Deepak works closely with, supports and leverages networks to help founders grow and create value from ideation through to exit planning. He has also structured, set-up & raised capital for funds anchored by Aarin and for co-investments.

From early 2008 to early 2010, Deepak was CFO at a Sequoia funded tech start-up, later sold to a leading mid-tier Indian outsourcer. Since mid-2000 Deepak headed strategic initiatives at Infosys and was its first CRO.  He deployed +$100m in various initiatives, including cross-border acquisitions, led pricing on outsourcing deals and implemented SoX404. He started his career in 1990 with the Big Four.

Aarin is a proprietary fund co-founded by Dr Ranjan Pai (Manipal Education & Medical Group), and Mohandas Pai (Chief Advisor to the Manipal Group, Board Member, also formerly of Infosys).  Deepak set up the fund and has been with it since. Additionally, Aarin has anchored funds in IT, both early stage and venture capital, Digital Media and Financial Services, the confluence of mobile and consumer, in derivatives and also late stage and listed equities.  

Deepak is an honours Commerce graduate from Delhi University and is a Chartered Accountant (1989). He is keen on science fiction, plays golf and does yoga. He also invests in his own capacity and works closely with founders helping them build their businesses.
