Vishal Sharma, Founder & Managing Director, Tuscan Ventures

Vishal is currently Founder & Managing Director of Tuscan Ventures, an investment company specialising in the logistics, transportation infrastructure and shipping space. Tuscan has closed 3 deals since its inception, with the latest being an investment in one of India's largest third party logistics' firms, LCL Logistix Pvt. Ltd.

Vishal started his career in India in 1994 with A. P. Moller - Maersk, the owner and operator of the world's largest shipping line. Before being appointed Vice-President and Head of Maersk Line business in India in 2006, Vishal worked in various C-level positions across the globe with the Group.

Prior to taking up the assignment in India, he was Director of Group Strategy for AP Moller Maersk's shipping, logistics, ports, oil & gas and banking business in Denmark, prior to which he was Managing Director for Maersk Line and Maersk Logistics in Vietnam.

Vishal has an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce and a Masters Degree in Marketing from University of Bombay.


Vishal Tulsiyan, CEO and MD, Motilal Oswal Private Equity

Mr. Vishal Tulsyan founded MOPE in 2006 with MOFSL being the sponsor. At MOPE, Vishal looks to build a platform to channelize long-term capital to create valuable enterprises and successful entrepreneurs.

He plays a crucial role in building the team and defining the strategies that have taken MOPE to its present levels and has been directly involved both in identifying businesses, as well as in supporting portfolio companies.

Vishal has spent two decades in the Indian financial sector across private equity, investment banking and structured finance. He brings on board his deep experience of raising, investing and returning third party capital across several economic cycles.

Prior to founding MOPE, Vishal was with Rabobank during its formative years in India, helping build its corporate finance and investment banking franchise. He was responsible for the origination and execution of structured finance, project finance, acquisition finance, private equity and M&A transactions. During his Rabobank tenure, he executed ~50 transactions aggregating more than Rs 900 bn & helped build the life sciences practice in India into a key business driver.

Vishal holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from the prestigious St. Xaviers' College, Kolkata and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (all-India # 21 rank).


Vishal Tulsyan, CEO and Managing Director , Motilal Oswal Private Equity

Vishal founded MOPE in 2006 with MOFSL being the sponsor. At MOPE, Vishal looks to build a platform to channelize long-term capital to create valuable enterprises and successful entrepreneurs. He plays a crucial role in building the Team and defining the strategies that have taken MOPE to its present levels and has been directly involved both in identifying businesses, as well as in supporting portfolio companies.

Vishal Vasishth, Founder & Managing Director, SONG Investment Advisors

    

Vishal Vasishth is the founder and Managing Director of SONG Investment Advisors, a company focused on investing in the SME space with a larger vision to catalyze socio-economic development of India. SONG Investment Advisors is a sole advisor to SONG Investment Management Company, an investment firm founded by Soros Economic Development Fund, Omidyar Network and Google.

Most recently, Vishal served as a senior executive for Revolution, LLC, a private investment holding company started by Steve Case (AOL) with $500 million of initial capitalization and a charter to invest in consumer-facing businesses in disruptive markets. In this role, he evaluated new investments and helped with post-investment management of the portfolio companies, which include: Zipcar (alternative transportation), Miraval (real estate/spa resort) and Gaiam (public company in the wellness space). Vishal also led the senior management team of Flexcar (now Zipcar) for an interim basis.

Vishal also served as Chief Strategy Officer for Patagonia, Inc., assisting the CEO in developing the company’s strategic direction, including restructuring and overseeing operations. He directed Patagonia’s Capilene P&L, orchestrating a turnaround and increasing division sales by over 40%, and prior to that helped launch a number of successful product brands increasing the company’s top line by over 30% while receiving numerous innovation awards and recognition for the company. During his tenure at Patagonia, sales doubled while the company was consistently ranked as one of the best places to work in the U.S.

Vishal has worked as an advisor to Investor’s Circle, an angel investor forum targeted toward the health and wellness/clean-tech space. He currently serves as an advisor to many emerging, innovative companies such as Good Magazine. He serves as the founding board of advisors for B Corporation, an innovative nonprofit venture. He is a Henry Crown fellow of The Aspen Institute and a Next Generation Fellow of The American Assembly. Vishal most recently helped launch a new energy and environment innovation award in conjunction with The Aspen Institute and National Geographic magazine.

Vishal earned a B. Tech degree in India, a Master’s degree in Sciences from North Carolina State University and an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.


Vishant Vohra, CTO, Vodafone Idea Limited

Vishant Vora is the Chief Technology Officer of Vodafone Idea Limited, India’s largest telecom service provider, effective 31st August 2018. A member of the National Leadership Team, Vishant is responsible for networks, IT operations and overall technology strategy.

Prior to his present role, Vishant was Director–Technology at Vodafone India where he spearheaded the technology and network infrastructure for the company. A career telecom professional, Vishant has spent more than two and half decades in telecom technology building his expertise across three continents – USA, Europe and Asia.

He graduated as Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Lawrence Technology University in Michigan, USA.

Vishesh currently heads the Family Office at the Berger Paints India Group. In his current role, he is responsible for managing the overall investment portfolios (including real estate), developing investment policies and other governance policies based on the core values of the family, as well as being an independent advisor to the family members who are on the board of the operating entity and laying down the IT infrastructure for the Family Office etc. 

Prior to this, Vishesh has spent more than 7 years at EY where his work included advising clients in the area of insolvency & bankruptcy, corporate restructuring, brand structuring, mergers, demergers, amongst others. During his tenure, his clients included various large Indian listed companies and other conglomerates. Another important part of his role at EY was advising clients in the area of succession planning and assisting them in laying down governance mechanisms in the family and business (through family charters and trust structures). He had also assisted families in resolving conflicts arising due to businesses. He was instrumental in making various cross border initiatives (Private Client Services) successful at EY. He was also the India Champion for EY Nextgen Academy.

Apart from the above, he is a professional triathlete and regularly participates in various international long distance triathlons, including what is considered to be the world’s toughest single day sporting event: the Ironman.


Vishesh Rajaram, Principal, Ventureast

Vishesh has been with Ventureast since early 2007, managing investments of the Proactive Fund. He has seen over a hundred proposals, and has collaborated in six investments in consumer internet, infrastructure, mobile value added services, industrial enzymes, semiconductors, direct marketing and consumer loyalty management spaces. His prior experiences, in corporate banking with ICICI Bank, and in the Assurance and Business Advisory practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers has given him a solid base to build his deal flow network. His debt portfolio at ICICI Bank was in the range of $50 million.

Vishesh has spearheaded a strategic acquisition for a portfolio company, helps in business development and business networking, and advises in routine as well as strategic financial matters. He was instrumental in Vysr, a web services portfolio company, gaining access to Indian internet firms, and in leveraging the India advantage.

As an entrepreneur prior to joining Ventureast, Vishesh took over the management and turned around a distressed specialty chemicals business, which he later exited by selling to a leading Italian chemicals company.


Vishnu Amble, Director, GreenBear Group LLC

Vishnu Amble serves as a Director of GreenBear Group LLC, a single-family office founded in 2006 based in Miami, Florida and Singapore. The GreenBear Group LLC investment program has been active across private markets in developed and emerging regions of the globe, with a specific focus on spinning out and seeding emerging GPs, as well as being active investors in funds and companies, and are members of the Institutional Limited Partners Association (ILPA).

Vishnu also serves as a Director of the family office’s foundation focused on funding access to energy, education, healthcare, and climate change solutions in South and SE Asia. Vishnu has built his 20+ year career in investments and capital markets with such companies as Saudi Aramco, E.ON, The Carlyle Group and Lehman Brothers.  Vishnu earned his Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics and Computer and Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
