Ananta Barua, Executive Director, SEBI

Mr. Barua has been with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) since 1992 till date. He is currently holding charge of the Investment Management Department - Division of Funds 1, 2 & 3, Debt Markets, Alternative Investment Funds (AIF), Portfolio Management Schemes (PMS), Investment Advisory Services, Mutual Funds, Foreign Institutional Investors and Custodians (FIIC), Collective Investment Schemes (CIS), Parliamentary Affairs and Regional Offices.

 

Mr. Barua has been associated with various responsibilities including the development of policy, framing of regulations on securities market. He is also associated with developing the regulatory framework governing the capital market in India (SEBI-1992-2011) and Bahrain Monetary Agency (BMA), Kingdom of Bahrain (BMA/CBB-2004-2006).

 

Prior to joining SEBI in 1992, Mr. Barua worked with the Industrial Finance Corporation of India from 1990. He was also the advisor at the Bahrain Monetary Agency (BMA)/ Central Bank of Bahrain between 2004 & 2006.

 

Mr. Barua holds Bachelor's degree in Commerce and a Bachelors degree in Law (LLB) both from the University of Delhi. He has also acquired a Diploma in Management from Delhi.


Ananth N G, Whole Time Member, SEBI

Mr. Ananth Narayan is currently a Whole Time Member of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), looking after Market Regulation Department (MRD), Alternative Investment Fund and Foreign Portfolio Investors Department (AFD), Enforcement, Enquiries & Adjudication Department (EAD), Office of Investor Assistance & Education (OIAE), and Department of Economic & Policy Analysis (DEPA).

Prior to this current role, Ananth has had extensive experience of academia, governance, and international banking.

Between 2018 and 2022, Ananth was an Associate Professor at S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai. He also served on several boards, including as Independent Director on SBI Capital Markets, Additional Director (appointed by RBI) on Yes Bank Ltd., Public Interest Director (appointed by SEBI) on NSE Clearing Limited.

Between 2009 and 2017, Ananth was with Standard Chartered Bank, last as Managing Director & Regional Head of Financial Markets, ASEAN and South Asia. Between 2006 & 2009, he was with Deutsche Bank, last as Managing Director, Global Rates, South Asia. Between 1993 & 2005, he was with Citigroup, last as Director, Financial Markets, South Asia.

Ananth has also served on several RBI and SEBI committees and working groups.

Ananth holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, and is a Bachelor of Technology (Electrical Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.


Ananth Narasimhan, CEO & Founder, At your price

Ananth Narasimhan is the CEO of Atyourprice.in which is a distressed inventory travel site which allows users to bid for a flight ticket, on a reverse auction model.

With a B.Tech from IIT-Madras and a Masters from the University of Illinois, Urbana, Narasimhan worked for United Airlines in Chicago and as an airline consultant for Sabre. Returning to India, he focused on creating software for the travel industry, played the role of consultant for Jet Airways to set up the revenue management department, and started Ghumo.com - an online travel search engine, before co-founding Atyourprice with funding from Mumbai Angels.

Ananth Narayanan is the Chief Executive Officer at Myntra, the country’s largest m-commerce platform for fashion and lifestyle products. He is responsible to drive Myntra's aspiration to transform how people shop for fashion online and also focus on building category leading Fashion brands.

Featured as one of “India's Hottest 40 under 40 Business Leaders” in 2014, Ananth has deep expertise in driving performance improvement and has a particular passion for product development. Prior to joining Myntra, Ananth was a Director at Mckinsey & Company and has worked with the firm for 15 years across four offices (Chicago, Shanghai, Taipei and Chennai). His role entailed leading the Product Development practice in Asia and working with companies on strategy, operations and organisation. He has successfully helped companies streamline operations and supply, improve product development, develop strategies, business plans and organisational models.

Ananth has a Bachelor degree in Engineering from University of Madras and a Masters from the University of Michigan, in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. He is on the Industry Advisory Board of University of Michigan’s Tauber Institute.


Ananthan NS, Senior Investment Officer, IFC

"Ananthan is a Senior Investment Officer with International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) in the Manufacturing, Agribusiness & Services group and leads Agribusiness investments for IFC in South Asia. He has over 17 years of experience across Private Equity, M&A / Corporate Finance and Client Coverage in a wide range of sectors in India. Prior to joining IFC, Ananthan has worked with Standard Chartered Bank, Kotak Investment Banking and IL&FS. He holds a PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani."


Ananya Birla, Founder, Chairperson and Director, Svatantra Microfinance

Ananya Birla founded Svatantra Microfinance Pvt. Ltd at the age of 17 and in just over three years as the Chairperson and MD, she has established herself as a successful entrepreneur. When the risk perception in the industry was very high, Ananya in her independent capacity, played a significant role in changing minds in the regions where Svatantra operates. Ananya Tripathi, SVP Planning & Strategy, Myntra

Ananya Tripathi currently heads Strategy & Planning at Myntra. Her focus areas include framing Myntra’s business approach, planning and investments (organic and inorganic) based on deep understanding of consumer behaviour, evolving landscape of e-commerce and data backed insights across all business areas.

Ananya has over a decade of experience in strategy, operations and technology across her stints at Myntra, being an Associate Partner at McKinsey and a Software Engineer at TCS. A gold medalist of her Computer Engineering and MBA degree from Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, Ananya is passionate about making 10x impact happen on the ground.

Andrew McRobert, Commercial Banker, and a leading expert on International restructuring, and cross-border insolvency situations

Andrew McRobert is a commercial banker specializing in restructuring, insolvency and with nearly 32 years’ experience in credit, portfolio risk management, lending, and problem loans management. He has worked with some of the world's leading financial institutions including: Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Finance Corporation (IFC), Citicorp, Jakarta Initiative Task Force (JITF), African Development Bank, Development Bank of South Africa (DBSA), Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), and Coopers & Lybrand.

Andrew is a qualified Chartered Accountant, a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has a demonstrable track record of identifying and implementing restructuring & recovery strategies for complex non-performing investments and loans all across Australasia, Asia and Africa; and is also experienced in conducting due diligence assignments, high-level problem resolution negotiations and team building in credit and portfolio risk management.

He is an engaging speaker and presenter and has developed and led very highly rated programs; consulted with clients across Asia Pacific, Africa, & Middle East including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Thailand, Australia, South Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania, Oman.
