Introduction

For absolutely every conceivable question that is part of any curriculum across the World, there is someone from India explaining the answer on YouTube. A true testament to the cultural focus on education in India.

Education in the country has largely established itself as an enabler for empowerment. Over the last decade though, technology began pushing its boundaries to unfathomable limits – EdTech has elevated upskilling, reskilling, certification, and even casual learning towards democratization, just like it had done with high-school education.

The story can only be upwards and onwards from here. EdTech will begin to rapidly pivot towards submitting itself to user behaviours and creating experiences. Welcome to the VCCircle EdTech Investment Summit – Reimagining EdTech Event. This year, we will focus on how such experiences could be created to enhance our learning journeys.

Keynote Address: Adaptive Personalization with Intelligent Learning Solutions

Adaptive and tailored information, provided to the right student at the right time, is the future of customization in learning. The next 3-5 years are expected to witness the growth of such personalized learning technologies. While currently restricted to the B2B world, where AI algorithms assess the learning styles of employees to provide relevant training content, the same will soon begin to gain a foothold in high-school and college education also. This personalization and augmented intelligence will have the potential to normalize learning inequalities across demographics or geographies.

By Prof (Dr) Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

  • 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Panel Discussion 1: Deciphering the New Playbook of the $1BN EdTech Market

2021 is expected to witness investment figures well north of $2BN for the EdTech market in India. Estimates suggest that in just another 10 years, the market size would account for $30BN (now ~$1BN). While the K12 segment continues to garner the Lion’s share, Test Prep, Reskilling, Higher Education, & casual learning are expected to catchup. But what could be the non-consumption markets that predict these high growth rates? The session would decipher the possible segments of EdTech that will drive growth in the next decade.

Often understated is the ability to influence thought with visuals and experiences. Not just AR or VR, even analytical & AI tools are now helping developers create improved story boards and templates for engaging and provoking the learner’s mind. Cloud computing is now rapidly enabling the development of simulation or virtual labs for experimentation, gamification of curriculums, and interactive content – all of which are crucial components of STEM and higher/professional education processes.

Panel Discussion 3: Bridging the Digital Divide in Connectivity

Living up to expectations for the EdTech market will come to depend on participation from Tier 2, 3 and other rural areas of the country. Internet connectivity, dependability of electricity will continue to hamper dissemination of rich educational content. The true innovators of the EdTech World are fully cognizant of the divide. Until escape velocity is achieved from the rural segments, a combined online/offline approach that ensures low-bandwidth enablement, could be pivotal for success. Innovative ways to overcome the divide are underway.
