Dr Harish Pillai, CEO, Aster Medcity
A healthcare professional with exceptional leadership skills, Dr. Harish Pillai joined the Aster DM Healthcare Group as the CEO of Aster Medcity in the year 2013. Set in 40 waterfront acres, Aster Medcity Kochi is a USD 300 million green field medical township project. The Phase I of the project, which comprises one Multispeciality Hospital, eight separate Centres of Excellence, is complete. Aster Medcity is the first quaternary care hospital in Kerala to win the JCI Accreditation. The hospital is first in India to receive a host of accreditations and awards within one year of opening and includes the NABH Accreditation, Green OT (Operation Theatre) Certification by Bureau Veritas, ISO 22000 Certification and the first-ever NABH Award for Excellence in Nursing.
In just 2 years, Dr. Harish Pillai was promoted as the CEO of all Aster DM Hospitalsin Kerala, which includes the 670-bed Aster Medcity Kochi; MIMS Calicut, India’s first NABH accredited 600-bed tertiary care hospital; MIMS Kottakkal, a 150-bed secondary care hospital and DM WIMS, Wayanad, a 300-bed hospital and medical college.
Prior to joining Aster DM Healthcare, Dr. Harish Pillai was the CEO of Egypt’s biggest private tertiary care hospital - As Salam International Hospital, Cairo, for over 7 years. During his tenure as the CEO, he was the functional head of the 1300 plus staff team and helped the organisation attain consistent annual growth of over 16% even during the Egyptian Revolution in the year 2011. Under his leadership, the Hospital won the JCI accreditation and charted a growth turnover from 16.65 million USD in 2006 to 43.7 million USD in 2012 with an EBITDA of 18%.
Dr. Harish Pillai, who did his medical schooling at the Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, started his career in hospital management with the Apollo Hospital group after completing his first Masters in Hospital Administration from the Apollo Institute of Hospital Administration, Hyderabad, where he won the Dr Prathap C Reddy Award for Overall Excellence. He then went on to complete his Masters in Business Administration - International Hospital and Healthcare Management from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Germany, where he was awarded the Best Student for his distinguished academic record. He then joined the Belhoul Speciality Hospital, Dubai, UAE, as General Manager - Operations, and was soon promoted as the Hospital Director.
One of the most influential leaders in the Indian healthcare industry, Dr. Harish Pillai has been nominated to the board of Members of the Joint Commission International (JCI) Standards International Advisory Panel. He is the current Convener of the Healthcare Panel of Confederation of Indian Industries - CII Kerala State Council; the past Chairman of Board of Directors of New Cairo British International School, Egypt and the past President of the Indian Community Association of Egypt.
Dr. Harish Pillai, who was featured among the top 25 healthcare influencers in India by the Healthcare Executive Magazine (January 2015 edition), won the Best CEO of the Year Award (2015) at the CMO National Awards for Healthcare Excellence.
Dr Jasmin Patel, Managing Director, Fidelity International
Dr. Jasmin Patel is the MD of Fidelity International. He was previously the COO for the Indian pharma business of Novartis for 2 years till 2007. Prior to this, Patel was the Head of Disease Area Strategy and M&A Assessments for 2 years at Novartis global headquarters in Basel. From 2000-2003, Patel held positions of increasing responsibility with the leading management consultancy McKinsey & Co. in New Jersey. His clients were exclusively the world leading players in the pharmaceutical, biotech and healthcare industries.
Prior to these managerial experiences, Patel was a scientist in the Pharma and biotech sectors. For 6 years in the 1990 he was with Chugai Biopharmaceuticals, and Gen-Probe in San Diego. He is a gold medalist in B.Pharm degree from Bombay University, a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from Duquesne University (US), and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr Kushagra Katariya, CEO, Artemis Hospitals
Dr. Kushagra Katariya, an alumnus of Maulana Azad Medical College. Delhi has worked at the Beth Israel Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, Jackson Memorial Hospital and University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, Florida. In his last assignment, Dr. Katariya was the Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Miami VA Medical Center at the University of Miami, Miami, Florida.
Dr. Katariya is a well known cardiothoracic surgeon with interests in off-pump cardiac surgery, minimally invasive/ thoracoscopic valve surgery, end vascular therapy for thoracic aortic disease / trauma, surgical therapy for arterial fibrillation and lung cancer therapy. He has led many research activities in cardiac surgery, heart and lung transplant surgery and thoracic oncology. He has to his credit numerous books, monographs and journals and has been a guest speaker at various conferences all over the world. Besides, he is also a member of many professional and honorary organizations such as Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Association of V.A. Surgeons, International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery and American Association of Physicians from India.

Dr Mahipal S Sachdev, Chairman, Medical Director & Senior Consultant Ophthalmology, Centre for Sight Pvt. Ltd
Dr Mahipal. S. Sachdev, Chairman & Medical Director of Centre For Sight was honored with Padmashri award on January 26, 2007. He is a renowned ophthalmic Surgeon who is recognized for his expertise in the area of Corneal, Refractive & Cataract Surgery, both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Sachdev completed his MBBS from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He pursued MD in Ophthalmology at Dr Rajendra Prasad Center for Ophthalmic Sciences. He did advanced training and fellowship in Cornea at the Georgetown University, Washington, USA. He has received training in Refractive Surgery and Phacoemulsification. Dr. Sachdev has been Secretary of the Delhi Ophthalmological Society (DOS) and the Chairman, Scientific Committee of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS). Currently he is the Chairman Intraocular implant and Refractive Society, India.
Dr Mahipal S. Sachdev has received numerous awards and distinctions in India and abroad for his contribution to Ophthalmology. He has been recognized globally with fellowships and scholarships from the “Fifth International Symposium on Immunopathology”- Japan, “International Society of Eye Research”, “Research to Prevent Blindness”, New York, “Fisons award by the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists”, USA amongst others.
Dr N. Kamakodi, MD & CEO, City Union Bank Ltd
He is a Bachelor of Engineering, MBA, CAIIB and Ph.D. in e-Banking. He joined the Bank as DGM in the year 2003 was elevated to the post of GM in 2005 and later as Executive Director in 2006. He has excellent academic background has also acquired hands on experience on the overall operations of the Bank. From May 2011 appointed as MD & CEO of the Bank.

Besides being an active and leading practicing cardiologist, he is one of the leading Principle Investigator for international clinical trials in cardiology in the country.
Dr. Ramesh Babu started the concept of 10K Runs in the country by organizing the hugely successful Run for the first time in Hyderabad in 2003. After this more than twenty 10K Runs are being held in various parts of the country. Presently he is the President, TiE Hyderabad Chapter.
Dr Rob Forage, CEO, UNSW Global
Dr Rob Forage is the CEO of UNSW Global, a wholly-owned enterprise of UNSW Australia (The University of New South Wales). UNSW Global specialises in educational assessments and international education pathway programs and includes the prestigious UNSW Foundation Studies, UNSW Institute of Languages and Educational Assessment Australia.
Rob earned a B.Sc as a botanist and biochemist at the University of Tasmania, then a D.Phil as a Rhodes Scholar in Oxford followed by a post-Doctoral Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. He worked in the management of industrial R&D programs in the early days of the Australian biotechnology industry.
From there he pursued a career in the commercialisation of technology, introducing a range of important research products into international markets, through private consultancy and operational roles. He has worked in research management, business incubation and private equity investment prior to his current role in private education.
Rob has over 60 scientific/business publications, grants and patents. He is a Director of UNSW Press and is also a Councillor of the Fairbridge Foundation, a charitable organisation focused on assisting under-privileged children in NSW.
Dr S Subramanian, Head, Investment Banking, Enam Securities
Mr. S. Subramanian is the Head of Investment Banking at Enam Securities Private Limited.
He has over 20 years of experience in the financial services, during which period he set up and ran equity research at DSP Financial Consultants and the equities broking business at HG Asia Ltd. and UBS Warburg. In the last 5 years at Enam, Subramanian has lead several land mark transactions including those of ICICI Bank, Reliance Petroleum, NTPC, Suzlon, PNB, Yes Bank etc. in the Indian Capital Markets.
He holds a Doctoral Degree from the Indian Management Ahmedabad. His dissertation topic was titled “The Impact of Political and Economical Events on Stock Price Behavior.” During this period, he also studied at ESSEC in Paris under a French government scholarship as an exchange scholar.
His other interests include reading and traveling. He has delivered several lectures and talks at the Executive Development Programme at IIM Bangalore and conferences organized by Euro Money, Metal Bulletin as well as by Bombay Chamber of Commerce.
Dr Shiladitya Sengupta, Co-founder & Director, Vyome Biosciences
Shiladitya is Co-Founder of VYOME and member of the Clinical Advisory Board. He is the co-chair of Center for Regenerative Medicine at the Brigham and Women?s Hospital in Boston and an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is also the Co-Founder of Invictus Oncology, Cerulean Pharmaceuticals and Mitra Biotech.
Shiladitya's research focuses on the development of novel nanomedicines for cancer and angiogenesis-based diseases. In 2005, he was recognized as one of the top 35 innovators worldwide by MIT Technology Review magazine. He has also received the Shakuntala Amir Chand Award from the Indian Council for Medical Research.
Shiladitya is an alumnus of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, and completed his PhD as a Nehru Scholar from Trinity College at Cambridge University and was a Fellow at MIT before joining Harvard. He has published over 35 papers, including in Nature and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Dr Velumani Arokiaswamy, Officer, Thyrocare Technologies Limited
