Gaurav is a Lawyer and a Chartered Accountant with 24+ years’ experience of helping multi-national as well as domestic clients on their transaction tax, corporate tax, international tax and regulatory matters.
He has worked in past with organizations such as KPMG India, BMR & Associates, and Ernst & Young, as a part of their tax and regulatory practice.
He is a part of Heads Up – a tax boutique firm with offices in Dubai and Delhi.
Professional experience
He has advised clients on key transaction aspects throughout a deal cycle, including conceptualization and development of capital / business restructuring initiatives, as well as re-alignment of transactions to optimize tax benefits and to ensure adherence with tax and regulatory laws of India / UAE.
He has conducted tax diagnostic reviews and health-checks to determine tax exposures and suggesting measures for optimizing their risks.
Gaurav has advised extensively on outbound and inbound investments structures in diverse sectors, entity and jurisdiction structuring, and Intermediate Holding Company structures.
He has advised clients on tax implications - both under domestic as well as international tax laws - of various transactions, arrangements, remittances and business proposals.
Gaurav has worked on a range of corporate tax, international taxation, transfer pricing and regulatory matters, including overseeing of litigation and compliances for multinational clients, large Indian corporates and new age start-ups.
He has represented clients in the course of various tax proceedings, including proceedings before the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), the Authority for Advance Rulings (AAR), the Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP), and for the purpose of Advance Pricing Arrangement (APA).
Gaurav has undertaken multiple impact assessment studies of developments in tax domain, such as the Multi-Lateral Instrument (MLI), Country-by-Country reporting (CbCR), other changes introduced by virtue of OECD / G20 BEPS Project, Equalization Levy w.r.t. e-commerce transactions, Place of Effective Management (POEM) regulations, General Anti-Avoidance Rules (GAAR), rules for attribution of profits to Permanent Establishments, etc.
He has advised a range of companies doing business in / with the UAE, on applicability of UAE Economic Substance Regulations and / or UAE Corporate Tax laws, and handheld them in transition to a tax efficient yet compliant regime.
Gaurav has been nominated as a Special Invitee of the Committee on International Taxation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
He is a regular speaker in various seminars organized by various forums, both national and international, such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the International Fiscal Association, PHD Chambers, British Chamber of Commerce, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA), Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), ICAI Dubai, etc. He is frequently invited by Public Sector Companies, Law firms, Accounting firms and other enterprises to train their employees on recent developments in domestic and international taxation.

Prior to this he has worked at Citibank, Visa, ANZ Bank, IBM, First Data and an entrepreneurial stint at Obopay & Money on Mobile. He was APAC Head of Product & Innovation at First Data serving banks & merchants across region with digital solutions in payments & mobility. At Citibank, Gaurav was SVP in Asia Pacific Innovation Lab, where he developed product prototypes & new business models around international payments, corporate cards and Forex optimization.

Gautam Bhardwaj, Co-founder & Managing Director, Invest India Micro Pension Services Private Limited
Gautam has extensive experience in pension system design, reform and implementation and has advised the Indian government, PFRDA, the Government of Nepal, Asian Development Bank and The World Bank in this area. He co-authored the Project OASIS report that provided the basis for the NPS and India’s pension reform more generally. As founder of IIEF (1990), he also has extensive experience in institutional capacity building, financial literacy and policy advocacy in the areas of financial sector and postal reforms.

Gautam Gandhi, New Business Development, Google India
Gautam Gandhi leads new business development efforts at Google India. In this role, he is responsible for identifying new business opportunities that can help Google further drive its objectives in India, these includes management of early-stage partnerships, explorations and technology licensing.
Prior to Google, Gautam co-founded ClearCount Medical Solutions, a medical device company. The company developed patented RFID technology to track surgical sponges and instruments during surgery. He led the company from the initial business plan through FDA approval and is named on the patents. He has also been a part of the founding team for BlueMountain.com, a leading e-greeting cards company which was acquired by excite.com.
He completed a B.S. in Information Decision Systems, B.S. in Industrial Management and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. Gautam is also a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Award for entrepreneurship in India.

At Shiprocket, Gautam is at the helm of running logistics execution, operations and end to end strategy. As the Co-founder of the company, he helps define the culture and vision of the company.
Post his BS in Business from Western International University (USA), Gautam was part of his family business in industrial products import and distribution and worked with several renowned German engineering brands such as Bosch and Sick. He was instrumental in scaling the business and played key roles in several functions such as business development, logistics and enterprise sales.
His entrepreneurial journey began by Co-founding KartRocket and initially he was appointed as COO as well. At KartRocket, Gautam delivered superior results by developing and leading the business development, marketing, and sales. He also played a pivotal role in building the vendor management team and conceptualized the company’s strategic alliance and partner development program. Kartrocket has now been merged with Shiprocket as its e-commerce and omnichannel retail solutions arm, and Gautam is one of the efficacious Co-founder for the combined entity Shiprocket.

Mr. Gautam Khanna is the CEO of P.D. Hinduja Hospital and MRC, Mumbai and is also the Head of Hinduja College of Nursing. He is also a Managing Committee Member of a Degree College in Mumbai.
An Experienced Business Leader with a rich experience of more than 32 years of successfully Managing Diverse business and creating Sustainable Shareholder Value in Domestic and Internationally at Hinduja Hospital & 3M, leading teams across APAC, Latin America. Prior to this role, Mr. Khanna was the Executive Director and Country Business Leader of the 3M Healthcare Businesses for South Asia region and worked in 3M for 22 years in India and abroad.
He has demonstrated Skills & Expertise in Strategy, Board &Stakeholder Management, Business turnaround and Scaleup, Change Management, Team building, Customer Engagement & Industry Advocacy.
Mr. Khanna is an active member of various leading Indian Industry Associations. He has held the position of the Chairperson of FICCI Medical Device Forum, Co-Chairman of AMCHAM Medical Device Committee, Chairperson of India Working Group, Advamed and Secretary of Healthcare Federation of India (Nathealth) and was the National Leader of the Services Provider Forum (Hospitals) for Nathealth, India.
Currently, he is the chairman of FICCI Health Services Committee and President of AOH (Association of Hospitals) Mumbai and the Leader of the Western Region for Nathealth, India. He is also a task force member for SMRT project for IIT Kanpur.
He has been Awarded ‘ India’s Best Leaders in Times of Crisis 2021- Large Employers’ by GPTW for Exemplary Leadership & Healthcare Leadership Award by ET Now & World Health and Wellness Congress 2020 and Won the Asia Brand leadership award in 2009 from CMO, Asia at Singapore.
