Introduction

The past one year has seen an extreme transition with businesses and processes. Given the recent unfortunate developments, we can say that the wheel has turned 360 and that too, for the worse. When we thought that the economy was finally opening up in early 2021, the country pushed back even further.

Whether its process improvement, agility, organization structure, employee engagement and crisis management, organizations who are upskilling continuously to make better systems in place are the ones who will survive in the coming decade. As per a McKinsey report, globally, ever since the pandemic, the rate of adoption for consumer interaction with digital has upped by 3 years. A huge percentage is now showing dependency on digital businesses, and this is a clear indication that those who adapt to it will be the ones at the forefront.

Incumbents are shaking up the value chains to attract customers of the new ecosystem —and tap potentially huge pools of value. Companies are set to lead by redefining "who they are", "how they operate" and "how they grow".

The Business Transformation Awards acknowledge business and technology leaders who have improved organizational processes and taken it new heights. They're trailblazers who are set to be class-apart in achieving milestones and kept the organization afloat, especially during an ongoing pandemic. Their will, determination and zeal to grow together is what makes them truly worthy of the award.

The next chapter of MINT | TechCircle Business Transformation scheduled on 25th June 2021 will be an amalgamation of a symposium and the awards ceremony.

    The Pillars of Business Transformation
Every organisation is now required to curate their own strategy of business transformation, however the flavors of transformation have changed drastically. Business transformation will now be shaped by primarily 5 pillars. First and foremost, organisations will have to rejig their operations so as to become outperformers. Second, early and seamless adaption to the digital ecosystems has been the key to survival in the recent times. This would entail a complete change in the attitude and the aptitude of the leaders. They would have to now embrace the digital first mind-set completely. The 4th pillar defining the success stories of future organisations will be the pace of innovation. And last but not the least organisations need to move to platforms.

Cloud – The Catalyst for Transformation
With customer expectations and technology evolving at an unprecedented speed, moving to cloud is increasingly becoming a strategic priority for businesses. The good news is that many companies across a range of industries have successfully implemented to achieve impressive results. The secret of their success lies in adopting well-defined, value-oriented cloud-ready operating model. Second, the leadership has adopted a much more technology-forward mindset than their peers. This has enabled them to fast track the Time to Market of innovations envisioned and also build thriving ecosystems. And last but not the least cloud enables the culmination of multiple technologies onto one platform to realize the dream of transformation.

    Reimagining Operations
Only the outperformers can survive in the new normal. And to join the league of such outperformers one needs to aim to grow the core, grow geographically, and cut across value chains all at the same time. None of which is possible without carving a completely new playbook. Setting up the operating model hitherto meant setting up operations, infrastructure, people etc. However while crafting the new operating model it’s all about taking into account the environment in which we operate today. The environment is highly digitised and hence calls for higher elements of automation across supply chain, engagement with stakeholders to build trust, and a complete reimagining of the future capabilities.
As per research conducted by Edge Insights, 60% of the CEOs have ranked “Increase in Employee Productivity” as the number one business priority.

Collaboration- The Linchpin of a Successful Operating Model
The new hybrid model of operations promises greater access to talent, increased productivity for individuals and small teams, lower costs, more individual flexibility, and improved employee experiences. However, to avoid the pitfalls of remote working requires thinking carefully about leadership and management in a hybrid virtual world. Interactions between leaders and teams create the social fabric and the unified hybrid virtual culture that organizations need in the next normal. Organisations thus need tools that help their workers collaborate and stay connected across geographies and functions. They need to be able to tap into the collective knowledge of the enterprise, solve problems with experts remotely, and reach out to the lowest possible layer.

Reinventing the Business Model - Build Ecosystems and not organisations

Future-proof organizations recognize that traditional understandings about what an organization is and where its boundaries lie are being upended. The old thinking was all about gaining leverage and controlling the supply chain. Increasingly, however, value is created through networks where partners share data, code, and skills; where communities of businesses create value and antifragility together. These ecosystems consist of interconnected sets of services with the ultimate intent to fulfill a variety of cross-sectoral needs and deliver optimum customer experience. Leaders are now looking to build not just resilient ecosystems but also at the lookout for opportunities to create completely new ecosystems altogether.

As per research findings by Edge Insights 33% of the CEOs are ready to tweak their operating models and embark on “Partnerships to acquire new customers”.

    Redefining Speed of Innovation
A crisis present to us the most paradoxical situation. These are the times when investments in innovation take a beating. Leaders begin to believe that they will return to innovation-related initiatives once the world has stabilized, the core business is secure, and the path forward is clearer. However this is the time to seize the opportunity presented by crisis at greater speed. By increasing the speed of decision making, while improving productivity, using technology and data in new ways, and accelerating the scope and scale of innovation companies can come up with the most disrupting business models. And it’s not always about hard innovations. Being digital and reduced the entry barriers in most fields and hence it’s about having a continuous journey of innovation to build a sustainable competitive advantage.

  • 4:45 PM – 5:15 PM

    Panel Discussion

    Rethink Transformation - Rethink Platform
Previously technology was used to assist and accelerate the existing value chains, however the dynamics of technology have changed considerably today. Technology today enables organisations to build customised platforms such that they can reinvent the value chain in itself. Whether it’s been the shift to online working, the spike in online demand, or the increase in cyber assaults, technology has emerged as a critical business capability. That reality has injected a renewed importance and new urgency into modernizing the technology function. However large scale technology adoptions have seen their share of failures. Hence there is a need to revisit the role of technology and how it is being delivered.
As per research conducted by Edge Insights, "Leaders now unanimously focusing on providing customers with safety and gaining trust, revive demand, and rethink the portfolio of IT initiatives."
